Do what you like, like what you do..... That was the quote I put in my 6th grade year book. Little did I know then how much of an impact it would have on my life. It comes from the clothing line Life is Good, which most of you know is near and dear to my heart.
But what if doing what you like and liking what you do is hurting the people around you? The good-bye season is upon us. My family said bye to my boyfriend this week but minutes before the final hugs and kisses, came "the talk". It hit us square in the face. It was the non-chalant (we've heard it a million times in the last six months) "Why are you going to Asia"
After 10 minutes of tears, explanations, and everything in between all parties involved came to the mutual agreement that we would never fully understand the opposition.
I took the silence over the past six months to be acceptance when in actuality it wasn’t that at all. "I just want to understand. I don’t have to like it, I just have to accept it."
It was a sad moment, knowing what you're about to embark on is going to hurt your family.
